Combat and Healing
LEVELING:
Leveling works just like in the D&D 4e handbook, however the max level is 25, not 30.
Powers and spells are gained at different levels, as are described in each class's section.
NOTES ON MAGIC:
Really freaking powerful, but takes a really freaking long time to make.
Fastest spell is about a fireball a minute, really high level
NOTES ON COMBAT:
You do NOT want to get in a fight.
Very little lenience
Injuries (explained in next section)
Taking a broadsword to the face actually hurts
Aim for different body parts
INJURIES:
Each attack, you can aim for different locations;
Head
Neck
Chest
Main Arm
Off Arm
Legs
If you do at least 1/4 total HP damage in one attack or crit, the targeted area becomes "gravely wounded", carrying penalties:
Head: unconscious
Neck: 10 dmg/turn
Chest: 3 dmg/turn, defenses -1, spd -1
Main Arm: atk -3 with main hand weapon
Off Arm: atk -3 with off hand weapon
Legs: half speed (round down), no shifting
Grave wounds cannot be "slept off", they must be treated by a doctor, or PC with "heal grave wounds" ability.
If you do 1/4 total HP damage in one attack or crit against a grave wound, the targeted area is removed, carrying penalties:
Head: Death
Neck: Death
Chest: 10 dmg/turn, defenses -5, spd -3
Main arm: 3 dmg/turn, no attacking with main hand weapon
Off arm: 3 dmg/turn, no attacking with off hand weapon (no benefits from shields if applicable)
Legs: Constant prone, speed becomes 1
Removed limbs can only be healed by intensive magic, and even at that they receive "scars", which are permanent and carry penalties:
Chest: defenses -1
Main arm: atk -1 with main hand weapon
Off arm: atk -1 with off hand weapon
Legs: spd -1
If the areas are removed and restored once again, scarring increases and the effect does stack.
Obviously, head and neck cannot be restored, as when they are removed, the person dies.
NOTES ON HEALING:
Sleeping a night heals hit points equal to a Conditioning roll divided by 5. It's hard to sleep off wounds.
Street doctors can heal, for a fee (or dagger to the throat, but they often have guards)
Cleric PCs can heal, with a limit. Like, 5 points as a first level daily kind of limit.
...it's bloody hard to heal.
Hit points are average 30 for 1st level
